Death toll due to Covid-19 in Karnataka rises to 11,578
India's count of cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) crossed 8.9 million mark to reach 8,912,907 on Wednesday, Union health ministry's data showed. In the previous spike, 29,164 new infections were recorded and 30,458 in the one before that. The latest spike is 32% more than the previous one.

Meanwhile, the Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi announced it was limiting the number of people allowed at weddings to 50 from 200. Also, both Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia and health minister Satyendar Jain assured no new lockdown would be imposed in the national capital. Jain, however, also hinted at curbs at local level in certain areas to bring Delhi's Covid-19 situation under control.

After schools reopen in Haryana, 83 students, eight teachers test positive for Covid-19
Days after reopening of schools in Haryana, at least 83 students and eight teachers have been tested coronavirus positive, prompting state Home Minister Anil Vij to issue directions to the authorities to check whether the Covid guidelines are being followed in the institutions or not, reports ANI.
7,486 fresh cases take Delhi’s Covid-19 tally to over 5 lakh
Delhi's Covid-19 tally went over 5 lakh on Wednesday night after 7,486 fresh cases and 131 deaths were registered. The death toll stands at 7,943, reports PTI.
Chhattisgarh records 2,048 new coronavirus cases, 23 deaths
With 2,048 new coronavirus cases and 23 fatalities, Chhattisgarh's tally rose to 215,413 while death toll reached 2,646 on Wednesday, a health official said. The state now has 18,770 active cases, reports PTI.
Chandigarh Administration advises people to travel to NCR only if necessary
The Chandigarh administration has also asked people to wear masks at home upon return from NCR regions and maintain six feet distance from their family members.
People should avoid travelling to high risk zones like Delhi- NCR region unless unavoidable. On returning, they should maintain 6 ft distance from their family members, always wear mask at home & limit contact with others to less than 15 mins: Chandigarh Administration
