The COVID-19 crisis has shellshocked the whole world at present. The cases continue to rise in all parts of the world as the deadly virus, which originated from China, remains a dominant force. In India, the metro cities are facing an adverse effect as well due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 crisis.

Cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Kolkata, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, etc. have seen a huge spike in the number of positive cases. The cases have also risen following the Unlock 1.0. On Sunday (June 21), a general practitioner, who used to run clinics in Khairatabad and Jiyaguda areas in the city of Hyderabad, died of coronavirus infection.

The 70-year-old general practitioner, thus, also became the first doctor to have succumbed to death owing to the spread of the Covid-19 in the state. The senior citizen was admitted to a private hospital a few days ago after there were severe symptoms of Covid-19 found. To make matters worse, he was also suffering from hypertension, which deteriorated his condition to an extent.

Further, the deceased was a member of the Indian Medical Association’s Hyderabad city branch. He had met one of his old patients who was admitted to a hospital in Kachiguda last week. Following that, he was diagnosed with a high fever. He had stopped seeing patients in a bid to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus from his end.

The state of Telangana recorded 730 new positive cases on Sunday (June 21). It remains the biggest single-day spike witnessed in the state. Out of the 730, Hyderabad accounted for as many as 659 new positive cases. As of now, Telangana has reported a total of 7,802 positive cases of COVID-19 according to the data shared by the health department recently.

Hence, the state government has its task cut-out to curtail the spread of the virus.
